University to Notify '59 On Houses Tomorrow

Only 13 Not Assigned While 65% of 1054 Get First Choice

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

When the 1054 students who applied to upperclass Houses for next year receive their room assignments from University Mail Service tomorrow morning, at least 65 percent will find they have been assigned to the House of their first choice, Dean Watson announced yesterday.

Another 24 percent have been accepted to their second or third choices, so that 89 percent of all House applicants received one of their three choices.

Only 13 men failed to receive any room assignment because of lack of housing facilities, compared to the 172 students on summer placement last May. Dean Watson attributed this drastic reduction to the addition of Wigglesworth Hall to upperclass housing facilities and to a drop in the number of commuters seeking housing.

Wigglesworth Addition

Wigglesworth will add space for 149 additional upperclassmen. Although the dorm houses a total of 191 men, 42 will be occupied by next year's freshmen.

Commuter Applications Drop

The number of commuters applying for House accomodations has dropped to only 11 freshmen and 32 upperclassmen. In addition, the Administrative Board reportedly has been more liberal in allowing upperclassmen to live outside the crowded Houses.

Although no official quota was set on the number of freshmen who would be admitted to the Houses of their first choice, the Masters reportedly agreed among themselves again to break down the supposed house stereotypes.
