Three Shells sink in River

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The second freshman boat and two shells from Andover Academy sank ignobly to the bottom of the choppy Charles yesterday as a result of 40 mph gusts which sprang up after the finish of their race. Only the winning number one boat managed to stay afloat.

The shells had stopped after the race when they got the order to turn around. Three of them did, but they started filling up after about 30 strokes. The other, seeking what happened wisely headed downstream to the Union Boat Club.
