Two leading British scholars, Herbert L.A. Hart and Mrs. Barbara Ward Jackson, will join the Faculty next year.
Mrs. Jackson has been appointed a Visiting Lecturer on Government for the spring term. Formerly editor of the "Economist," she has written books and articles of political affairs that are internationally famous. In addition to numerous contributions to American periodicals, she has written "The West at Bay," "Policy for the West," and "Faith and Freedom."
Hart, Professor of Jurisprudence at Oxford, will act as Visiting Professor of Legal Philosophy in the Philosophy and Law departments and conduct several seminars next year.
He has written extensively in philosophical journals and is known for his studies of the historical roots and philosophical principles of English Law. He was a Fellow, Tutor, and University Lecturer at Oxford before becoming Professor of Jurisprudence in 1952.
