Furcolo Will Discuss Lobby Ethics Tonight

Foster Furcolo, a leading Massachusetts Democrat, will be the principal speaker at a discussion tonight on "The Ethics of Lobbying." The meeting, which is sponsored by the Harvard Young Democratic Club, will be held at 8 p.m. in the Winthrop House Junior Common Room.

Besides Furcolo, the speakers on the topic will be Samuel P. Huntington, assistant professor of Government; and Kenneth J. Kelley, Legislative Agent for the Massachusetts State Federation of Labor.

Furcolo, a Yale graduate, is a former Congressman and lost to Senator Leverett Saltonstall '14 in the 1954 campaign. At present he is seeking the Democratic nomination for Governor in this fall's elections. He is an expert in labor affairs and received a certificate in labor legislation from the Labor Management Center at Yale.

Shortly before his 1954 election loss to Saltonstall, Furcolo appeared at a convention of the Americans for Democratic Action and told that group it should disband. Before then he had been a loyal supporter of the ADA's work.
