Dunster Fencers Win Sabre Bouts

The sabre matches of the individual fencing intramurals were one-sided Tuesday as Dunster House placed three men among the four semi-finalists. Of the three Funsters, Eugene Lew won the championship, Lee Rosenberg finished in second place, and Jim Hardin tied for third.

In the preliminaries of the elimination tournament, Hardin defeated Charles Rutledge of Winthrop, 5 to 2, Rosenberg won over Edward Cross of Dunster, 5 to 1, and Lew gained his victory from Peter Bolles of Adams by a 5-3 score. The other finalist, Robert Gargill of Adams, defeated Earl Silbert, 5-3 in his first match.

In the semi-final matches Rosenberg won, 5 to 2, over Hardin and Lew defeated Gargill, 5 to 0. Lew took the final match from Rosenberg by a 5-4 score.

David Bynum of Massachusetts Hall took first place in the freshman sabres, held at the same time as the House matches. He was followed by Jim Harpel of Holworthy,
