Led by Bob Foster's second place finish in the 177-lb. class, the varsity wrestling team tied Yale for ninth place in a field of sixteen at the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association championships at Cornell Friday and Saturday.

Foster, after pinning Pittsburgh's Tony Vuocolo in 2:56 in the preliminary round, gained the semi-finals with a 4-2 decision win over Columba's Gene Appel. Then, in the semis, he turned back Doug Volugenau of Navy 8 to 5. In the finals, however Foster dropepd a 9-4 decision to Lehigh's Ed Hamer and gained only a second place.

Heavyweight Bob Winne was the only other Crimson wrestler to survive the first round, pinning Brown's Art Giorgini in 2:12. He lost in the quarter-finals to Art Baker of Syracuse, the eventual winner, on a 4-0 decision.

The varsity's finish with 13 points was a slight improvement over last year's performance, when the Crimson was eleventh with 8. points. Lehigh won the 1959 team title with 67 points, trailed by Penn State, Cornell and Pittsburgh.
