Squash Wins; Fencers Lose

Varsity squash captain Pete Milton upset fourth-seeded John Sidler yesterday to enter the round of sixteen in the National Intercollegiate Squash Championships at Hartford, Conn. Milton was down six match points but came back to defeat the number one man from Army, 15-11, 8-15, 12-15, 16-15, and 18-17. In the first round, Milton easily won, as did Harvard's Ben and Martin Heckscher.

In the second round, top seeded B. Heckscher won over Wood, the Williams captain, 18-14, 18-14. and 15-11. Martin Heckscher also continued his winning ways, beating Kebefick of Trinity College, to join Milton and B. Heckscher in the round of sixteen.

The Crimson fencers placed 10th and 11th in the foil and epee divisions in the first round of the Intercollegiates in New York yesterday.

The foil, which was predicted to place fourth, performed erratically. It downed first place Navy 3 to 0, but then eased up to lose to last place Brooklyn College, 3 to 0.

Cliff Thompson and Hubert Hocutt turned in the best records, each winning five of 11 matches. As was expected, the epee placed low, with no fencer passing the .500 mark. Doug Fitchen and Bill Chapple led the Crimson with five wins. In spite of the poor day's record the group beat five teams. Tomorrow, the sabre fences with little chance to improve the Crimson's overall standing.
