The varsity basketball team, with a 6-6 record so far this season, opens the second half of its campaign tonight against Brown at Marvel Gymnasium, Providence. The game will start at 8:30 p.m.
The Bruins, handicapped by a lack of height, have a record of four wins and ten losses, and are 0 for 5 in the Ivy League. One of the wins, however, came against Tufts, a team that upset the varsity in December.
Tebo Outstanding
Sophomore Joe Tebo, a 5-foot-10 guard, is the outstanding player and high scorer for the Bruins, averaging 19.3 points a game. Another sophomore, 6-foot-3 center Gerry Alaimo, has scored 160 points. Captain and forward Charley Merritt is the team's leading rebounder although he stands only 6-foot-1.
In Coach Floyd Wilson's only lineup change, senior Bill Riggs will move into the starting five for the first time. Riggs, who was cut from his freshman squad and has been one of the outstanding players in the House league for the past two seasons, will start at a guard, along with Bob Hastings. Ike Canty will be at center, with Dick Hurley and Phil Haughey at the forwards.
Win Likely
Although it appears the Crimson should defeat Brown decisively, Coach Wilson is not taking the game lightly. "Every year since I've been here, our first game after exams has been a bad one. The boys' reactions seem to be slower and their shooting is never quite as good right after such a long layoff."
