The Senate approved yesterday the nomination of Robert R. Bowie, former profesor of Law, as assistant secretary of state for policy planning.
The proposal passed in a voice vote without debate in spite of former opposition of some Republican Senators to Bowie's Far Eastern views.
Formerly from Baltimore, he had served a term as assistant attorney general of Maryland. His career has included service as legal chief for High Commissioner John J. McCloy.
