The Crimson's floundering basketball team will try to snap its five game losing streak tonight when it meets Princeton at the Tigers' gym. Princeton, however, only a game out of first place in the very tight Ivy League race, is a heavy favorite to defeat the varsity again.
In the teams' first meeting on Friday here, the Tigers completely outplayed the Crimson, and won 68 to 55. The varsity led briefly in the first half, but Princeton's well-drilled five-man weave was too much for Coach Floyd Wilson's Crimson defense.
With Chet Forte, Columbia's sensational point scorer, now scholastically ineligible for the remainder of the season, Princeton stands as the favorite to capture the league title. It has won four games in the league, dropping two. Its over-all record is 8-8. The Crimson, after a very encouraging opening spurt, has a mediocre 6-10 record, 2-5 in the league.
Cappy Cappon, Princeton's veteran coach, will probably start Dave Fulcomer, his outstanding sophomore center; Fred Perkins, Don Davidson, Ken MacKenzie, and either Captain John DeVoe or Ben Spinelli. Devoe twisted his knee in Friday's game and is a doubtful starter.
Wilson will probably go with his regular five of Ike Canty, Phil Haughey, Bob Barnett, Dick Hurley, and Bill Riggs.
