An exhibition of ten paintings and seven gouaches by the eminent architect Le Corbusier is now on display at Robinson Hall of the Graduate School of Design.
The exhibit, which will last through the end of this month. also includes photographs of Le Corbusier's architectural work and books containing his literary contributions.
Joseph Zalewski, assistant professor of Architecture, arranged the display of art, loaned by the Pierre Matisse Gallery of New York City. Many of the works have never before been displayed in New England.
The paintings were done during a 27-year period between 1927 and 1954, while the gouaches were all completed in 1954. A gouache is a painting with opaque colors which have been ground in water and mingled in a preparation of gum.
