Council Raps Teele Failure To Cooperate

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Edward M. Abramson '57, President of the Student Council, accused Planning Coordinator John W. Teele '27 of "a breach of faith" last night after Teele failed to supply the Council with the information they had requested.

Teele replied yesterday to this Council request: "It does not seem to me that any official statement can be made just now related to the content of your letter."

In an earlier conversation with Abramson. Teele said that while he believed student opinion was an important consideration in the attempt to solve the parking problem, he couldn't promise that the Council would be represented in the negotiations between the University and the City.

"In the best interests of all concerned," Abramson reported, "the Council had adopted Mr. Teele's suggestion that we not enter into independent negotiations with the city. We further believed it wiser to await a statement of University position before hurling careless invective. I deem today's letter from Mr. Teele as a breach of faith with a Council which has bent over backwards to work in accord with the administration."

Abramson said that he would write to Teele requesting "some positive offer to have student opinion directly represented at future meetings between the University and the city."
