A confident and determined cross country team will leave the Harvard Club in New York at noon, and entrain for Princeton, where it will face the Tigers and Yale in the most crucial meet of the season this afternoon.
The freshman meet will begin at 3:30 p.m., while the varsities will fight it out at 4.
Outside of Bill Thompson, who is hampered by a cold, the squad is in the best physical shape of the season, and confident that it will come up with the clutch performances to outscore favored Yale and complete its third consecutive undefeated season.
Coach McCurdy will stick with the usual lineup of Pete Reider, Dave Norris, captain Dave McLean, Jim Schlaeppi, Dick Wharton, Ralph Perry, John Read, Thompson, Bob Holmes, Bill Morris, Larry Lavers, and Dyke Benjamin.
The Yardlings rate as definite under-dogs as they go after their sixth and seventh consecutive victories of the season against the Yale and Princeton freshmen.
The Bullpups rank as solid favorites on their season record. They have lost only to a powerful Fordham squad, while defeating the Dartmouth freshmen, 23 to 32. The Yardlings beat the same team 25 to 33, last Friday.
Princeton also boasts a strong team headed by Pete Kingston, who defeated the entire Princeton varsity with the exception of ace Ron Zwirner, in a practice meet. Backing up Kingston are Stew White and Ted Johnson.
Yale, on the other hand, boasts a power-packed lineup of three excellent runners in Tom Cathcart, John Morrison, and Steve Johnson. Behind these three come Ed Slowik, Eric Walther, and John Blake, sufficient depth to hand the freshmen their first defeat of the season.
