Blood Pledges Increase Over 1955; PBH Predicts Total of 1500 Pints

Pledges in the annual University fall term Blood Drive have shown a marked increase over last year's totals. Isaac E. Druker '58 and Stanley B. Lyss '58, co-chairmen of the drive, announced yesterday that 1312 pints of blood have already been pledged and that the total is expected to rise to about 1500 by the end of the week.

These figures compare with only 1100 pledges last spring and under 1300 a year ago. Druker and Lyss said that this year's "solicitation among students has been outstandingly successful."

The College Houses contributed a total of 819 pledged pints, with Kirkland and Dunster accounting for the highest numbers. Other totals were as follows: freshmen, 229; Radcliffe, 111; graduate students, 147; employees, 4; and Wellesley, 1.

Actual donations will be made during the week of Dec. 3, when the Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at Memorial Hall. Any student who wishes to pledge a pint of blood but has not yet done so is urged to sign up at Phillips Brooks House as soon as possible.
