Yardlings Beat Weak Elephants In Soccer, 7-0

The freshman soccer team overwhelmed Tufts yesterday, 7 to 0, displaying its first use of offensive power.

Disorganized Tufts offered little resistance to the Yardlings' sharp passing attack and disciplined teamwork. During the entire game, the Yardlings controlled the ball near Tufts' goal. In marked contrast to previous games, the Yardlings took advantage of almost every kicking opportunity.

Three scores came early in the first period. Star linesman John Mudd tallied soon after the game opened, and Al Butzel and John Freeman soon followed. In the second period, Bill Wexler headed the ball in for the fourth goal.

In the third period, Ken Marmar kicked a corner shot into a Tufts fullback, bouncing the ball into the cage for another score. Other goals in the second half were kicked by John Himmelhock and Marmar. The game was called because of darkness midway through the last period.

This Saturday the freshman booters will play Andover at Andover.
