Soccer Team Will Open Season By Meeting Tufts This Afternoon

The Crimson's first home sports encounter pits the soccer team against Tufts this afternoon at the Business School Field. The 3 p.m. encounter may well give some indication of the future of Bruce Munro's eleven, a squad that won the New England League title last year and shared the Ivy Leage crown with Penn.

While the line and goalie are veterans, Munro will be using some inexperienced players among his halfbacks and fullbacks and lacks depth everywhere except in the goal.

Today's game against an unknown Tufts opponent will settle nothing certainly, although a loss would bode poorly. It can, however, give an indication of some unforeseen strength.

Captain Grey Hodnett will start at center forward, with Jim Shue at inside right and Charlie MacVeagh at inside left. Hank Holmes will play outside left and Ken McIntosh outside right. Of these players, only Shue did not play extensively last year, and he lettered.

Tony Oberschall, the most experienced of the halfbacks, will handle the key position of center half, flanked by John Felstiner on the left and Marshall Schwarz on the right.

Don Beaver will play right fullback, and Chris Provenson will be on his left. Elliot Finkelstein will tend goal.
