The Crimson soccer team will be more nearly matched than in the last few games when it meets Dartmouth at Hanover today, but there is some doubt as to whether the locals will be able to snap a four-game losing streak. Neither team has won an Ivy League contest.
The Indians have won only one of four games--that over UConn--but have much potential from last year and are due to explode. Coach Tommy Dent uses a fast breaking offense, but stresses defense also. Dartmouth's defense is considered good, while the line usually fails to break away fast enough.
Center forward Butch Waid is definitely the playmaker for the Indians. Tony Gittes is a standout at halfback, while Randy Malin, brother of Dartmouth's All-Ivy goalie last year, will be in the nets. For the Crimson, Charlie MacVeagh will be ready to go again at inside left after an ankle injury. MacVeagh saw limited action against M.I.T. Wednesday. Barry Russman, also injured, has recovered.
Freshmen Underdogs
The Crimson freshman team will be a heavy underdog when it plays an undefeated Dartmouth squad today. Harvard has a 1-1 record against Exeter and Nichols Jr. College, while the Green has defeated both Exeter and Brewster.
