Bells Are Ringing

At the Shubert

By Gavin R. W. scott

Broadway show biz'll boast another bim-bam boff when this one gets to the Big City. Yessir, as every other Boston theatre expert has noted with his customary originality, the bells are ringing for Bells Are Ringing all over town.

No one, in all sincerity, could suggest that Judy Holliday can't sing; nor can it be said that the production, which continues for two and three quarter hours, lacks polish, charm, pathos, sex, love, comedy and music--for it has all these things. And what else could a musical have?

Well, that's what all the nice patrons of the Shubert have been saying to themselves, and that's why the rest of the run is pretty well sold out.
