Varsity, '60, to Run Open Handicap Race

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Both the varsity and freshman cross country teams will tackle anyone in the University physically able to run the handicap course today at 4:45 p.m. in a renewal of the annual University Handicap Race.

The varsity will run the 3.7 mile riverside course which begins in front of Newell Boat House from scratch, while the Yardlings will have three to five minute handicaps. Others will receive handicaps at post time at the discretion of the handicap committee, cross country coach Bill McCurdy.

Although there is no trophy or other prize, the runners will seek to eclipse the existing records for the course. Last year's captain, Don French, holds the varsity record for the race which he set in 1954, the last time the race was run.
