Freshman Teams Almost Unbeaten

Five freshman winter teams approach the mid-point in their seasons without a loss, while a sixth has lost only one contest. All seem to have borne out expectation expressed by coaches in pre-season predictions.

The hockey team, called "much better than the one we had last year" by Coach John White, has defeated eight teams without losing once. The wins include two victories over Boston University and one each over Boston College, Northeastern and Brown, as well as three wins over local highschool teams.

The swimmers have beaten Brookline and Andover without a loss to uphold early season reports. Dick Seaton and Frank German stand out in the two meets.

Squash players have defeated Wesleyan, Dartmouth and Exeter to compile a 3-0 record in inter-collegiate competition. In five non-collegiate matches, the team lost only to the Harvard Club of Boston. Charlie Hamm at No. 1 has lost only one of his eight matches, that to Dick Hoehn at Dartmouth.

"One of the best we've had in year," coach Al Wilson said about the track team this fall. Although the squad has only entered one meet, it swamped Boston University freshman 84 to 24.

The wrestling team overwhelmed a strong MIT squad in its only match this season, 29 to 3.

The basketball team has collected wins over Northeastern, Tufts, Providence, MIT, and Now Hampshire. Dartmouth handed the quintet its only defeat, 66 to 59.

It seems to be a good year for freshman winter sports.
