Charles R. Cherington '35, Professor of Government and former consultant to the New Haven Railroad, said last night that he was "just as suprised as anyone else" about the resignation of Patrick B. McGinnis as president of the New Haven.
Last year Cherington was a consultant to the New Haven on its proposed merger with the Boston and Maine, but he left because of sickness.
