Auerbach Gets Amateur Offer

NEW YORK, Jan. 17--Arnold "Red" Auerbach, flery coach of the Boston Celtics, may leave professional basketball for a college coaching job next season.

A friend of Auerbach's disclosed today that the National Basketball Assn. mentor had been approached by representatives of two Southern universities recently to coach their cage teams next season.

The friend said Auerbach expressed interest but declined to commit himself until the end of the NBA season.
