Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
In Providence last week, after the Providence College hockey game, Crimson wing Joe Crchore told Brown's cocky sophomore goalie Harry Batchelder that he was going to score two goals on him Saturday.
Crchore did just that, and Lyle Guttu added two more to give the varsity a pleasing 4-2 win at the Watson Rink. It was a pleasing victory because it assured the Crimson of at least a split in its two games with Brown, generally regarded as the top threat to its Ivy League championship.
It was also pleasing because it was the varsity's third straight win and augured a good last half of the season after the exam period layoff.
Brown was impressive with its hustle and hard backchecking, qualities that have been missing in the past few Bruin sextet's, and with Batchelder's solid goaltending, especially when he made fine saves off Dan Ullyot and Albie Wells from point-blank range. He had 29 stops to Charlie Flynn's 21.
The Crimson jumped off to an early 2-0 lead when Guttu poked in Bob Cleary's rebound at 1:40 of the first period as it lay in the crease, and when Crehore's shot bounced off a Bruin defensemen into the cage some three minutes later. The varsity had some usual clearing problems during the period, but Flynn's fine goaltending kept Brown scoreless.
Brown Ties Game in Second Period
The Bruins suddenly tied the game, however, with two goals by Captain Pete Tutless within 88 seconds of each other in the opening minutes of the second period. Crimson defenseman Mario Celi, who played one of his best games, was in the penalty box at the time of the second goal.
Guttu scored his second goal unassisted at 12:21 as once again he poked in a loose rebound, this time from his own shot. The varsity dominated play early in the final period.
