University Grants Academic Prizes

The University has announced a final splurge or prizes.

The Philip Washburn prize in History has been awarded to Michael O. Finkelstein '55 for his thesis entitled "Tariff Reform and Chinese Labor as issues of the General Election of 1906."

Winners were also announced for the Clemens Herschel book awards ($20 for each recipient). They go to E. Leo Slaggie, Jr. '56, William R. Samples 2G, Fredrick J. Burgess 1G, and Mark J. Beran 3G. All did "meritorious work in the field of practical hydraulics."

The Austin B. Mason book awards ($20 each) went to Walter R. Ferris 1G and James Parcher '55, who both did "outstanding work in the field of soil mechanics.
