On the basis of comparative scores, the varsity lacrosse team must rate as an underdog to New Hamsphire in today's game at 3:45 p.m. on the Business School field.
Against the relatively weak Tufts and M.I.T. teams, the visitors' only common opponents with the Crimson, New Hampshire scored impressive 10-2 and 4-1 victories. In comparison, the varsity barely eked out a pair of one-goal victories, winning by 11-10 and 6-5 scores respectively.
New Hampshire has won seven of its eight games to date, while the Crimson has compiled a mediocre 3-7-1 record. Five of the varsity's losses came on the spring road trip, however, and were against much better teams than New Hampshire faced on its southern trip, when it won five out of six.
"Our defenses should be about equal," Coach Bruce Munro said, "but New Hampshire has an exceptionally fine attackman in Co-Captain Bill Johnson and at least one very fast midfield."
Captain Dexter Lewis has fully recovered from a pulled leg muscle and will lead the Crimson attack today. The starting line-up also includes Larry Coburn and Don Dawidoff on attack, Leo Daley, Gibson Gerry, and Fred Sharff at defense, and John Ogden in the goal. First midfielders will be Lindsay Fisher, Jim Gale, and Fuzz Stewart.
