Harvard Students To Vote on Divestment From Israel in Inaugural HUA Election Survey
In the second vote required by Massachusetts law, a joint convention of the House and Senate reversed its earlier decision and approved the 18-year-old voting amendment to the state constitution yesterday 155 to 109. The approval is merely a preliminary step in effecting the amendment.
There is no possibility of 18-year-olds being able to vote before the city and town elections in 1959, however, since Massachusetts law requires that constitutional amendments be approved by two consecutive joint conventions and a popular referendum.
