Ed Cross led the Harvard Motorsports Enthusiasts to a clear-cut victory in the first annual Sportscar Race Rally last week-end at Gilford, N.H.
In the meet, the first of its type to be held in this area, the Crimson scored 223 points, 36 more than second place Brown. The other finishers were: Yale, 96; Tufts, 41; Williams, 38; M.I.T., 7; Fordham, 4; and Dartmouth, 3. Cross led the victors with 34 points.
During the two-day affair, the local drivers took three of the hill climbing events. Pete Magie (Flat) won the Class H; Jeff Barach (Volkswagen) Class G; and Rod Nerney (Ford Thunderbird) Class C.
John Horvitz, driving an Oldsmobile 88, captured the cross-country "rally overall." Cross was second and Barach tied for third. Burt Levinson of Tufts was individual high scorer with 41 points.
