Munch Receives Medal

The Glee Club presented Charles Munch, conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, with its medal for "outstanding contributions in the field of choral music, during a private ceremony at Symphony Hall last Saturday night.

G. Wallace Woodworth, James Edward Ditson Professor of Music, explained that this was only the second time that the medal had been conferred since its institution in 1951. Archibald T. Davison, James Edward Ditson Professor of Music, Emeritus, who first developed the Glee Club to high artistic standing, received the first award.
