The varsity golf team will open its season today against Wesleyan at the Charles River Country Club. The first match is scheduled to get under way at 12.
Last year the varsity rolled to an easy 6-1 victory over Wesleyan, but Coach Josh Williams is making no prediction on today's match. He said, however, that he expected the Crimson to be even better than last year's squad.
No definite line-up has been established as yet, but Captain Ted Cooney will play in the first position. Coney won the New England Intercollegiate Championships last year against players from 16 colleges.
The rest of the line-up is less certain. Jim Bailey and Bob Stokes will probably play in the second and third positions respectively, and Jim Jones is slated to start at number four. The last three positions will be divided among Bruce Thurmond, Roger Fleischmann, and Bob Ornsteen.
After today's match, the team will meet Williams at home on Tuesday, and will then travel to Amherst for a triangular meet with Williams and Holy Cross.
