Debate Council Challenges Yale to Support Daily's Inheritance Policy

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Harvard Debate Council has challenged Yale to debate the topic: "Resolved, That the inheritance of wealth is against the best interest of society." The subject gained prominence when the Yale News attacked inheritance as undemocratic. Yale has accepted.

The annual debate will take place in Sanders Theatre on May 13, and the University team will argue the negative position. On May 10, the teams will compete against each other in a practice match. The two best debaters will receive the Coolidge Prize, an annual award, which includes $175 for each winner.

The three strongest debaters will form the team which meets Yale, Fredrickson said. "We are primarily concerned with defeating in order to take the Big Three," he added.
