Fighters Compete in Semi-Finals in L.A.B. As Inter-House Tournament Starts Tonight

Sixteen fighters will square off tonight when the semi-finals in the inter-House boxing tournament get under way in the boxing tournament get under way in the I.A.B. at 7:30 p.m.

Since few boxers entered the tourney, the trial matches originally scheduled to determine the semi-finalists were not held. Instead, the pairs were picked 'in drawings held yesterday.

The bouts in the five weight divisions begin when Bob Weiler meets Bill Joseph in the 125-lb. class. In the 155-lb, matches, Jerry Shocker will face Tom Howes and Bill Bradbury will fight Stan Dubinsky.

The 175-lb: event, with Dave Hoffman vs. Reuben Gittes and John Canning vs. Tom Cooney, is the last one in which House boxers are entered. The freshmen take over in the unlimited class as Don Beaver boxes Les Archambeau and T. D. Moskowits fights Mike Prichard.

The winners of tonight's bouts will fight tomorrow evening in the finals. The finals will have matches in both the 135-lb. and 165-lb. classes. No fights are scheduled in these divisions tonight.

Coach Henry Lamar, who trained most of the House fighters, said yesterday that his boys have been taking tough workouts. "I expect it to be a good tournament," Lamar said. He added that he expects at least 15 bouts in the finals.

The winner of last year's championship was Dudley House. This year, the Houses have few entries, Dunster leading with four, and Dudley and Leverett follow with three men entered from each. Adams, Eliot, and Winthrop have two entrants.
