Columbia Five Faces Princeton for Crown

Columbia will play Princeton tonight for the Ivy League basketball championship and an automatic invitation to the N.C.A.A. Tournament. The game will take place in the Rutgers gym at New Brunswick, N.J.

The winner meets defending N.C.A.A. champion LaSalle Friday night in Philadelphia. Last night LaSalle won an easy first-round victory over West Virginia, 96 to 61, in New York.

Columbia and Princeton formed two-thirds of the first triple tie in Ivy League history. Pennsylvania also tied for first, as the three teams finished the regular season with records of ten wins and four losses, but Columbia eliminated the Quakers Monday night, 73 to 71.

The Lion attack features Chet forte. The phenomenal 5-9 sophomore shoots from anywhere on the court, and he led the Ivy League in scoring this year. Princeton relies on Don Davidson and Hal Haabestad, last year's Ivy scoring leader.
