The Debate Council, in cooperation with the Wellesley debate club, is sponsoring a forensic tournament of 18 colleges today and tomorrow at the College and Wellesley.

Preliminaries in impromptu speaking, oratory, and debate will be held here, and finals will take place a Wellesley on Saturday.

The combined tourney was arranged when the College and Wellesley clubs realized they were sponsoring tournaments for the same weekend. Members of each decided to combine, and make the tourney one of the largest to be held in the East this year.

"The combination has its advantages in that Wellesley can handle the social affairs we wouldn't want to take care of," George M. Fredrickson '56, president of the Council, said last night.

Colleges entering the tournament are Amherst, Boston University, Brooklyn, Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Hamilton, Harvard, Holy Cross, Pennsylvania, St. John's College, St. John's University, St. Peter's, Tufts, Union, and Wellesley.

Richard H. Murray '58 and James L. Kincaid '58, from the freshman debate council will make up the entering team from the College. Robyn M. Dawes and John B. Hermanson, also freshmen, will form a reserve team.

Cliff F. Thompson '56 is the College's entry in impromptu speaking. The best speaker in this division will be awarded the Edward Everett Oratory Prize in honor of the former president of the University. Richard C. Rohrberg '58 is the oratory entrant.
