With only one day remaining for the Combined Charities drive, David M. Dorsen '56 and Edward M. Strasser '56, co-chairmen of the drive, announced last night that door-to-door solicitors have collected $9,7000, which is $1,500 behind last year's total at this stage of the campaign.
Two thousand students have donated or pledged this year compared to 2,370 contributors through the entire drive last year. "While about the same number of people have given this year as last, the average contribution has been much smaller," Dorsen said.
Eliot leads the Houses in total amount collected with $1,562, which was donated by 320 students. Lowell, Winthrop, and Kirkland follow in that order. Freshmen have contributed $2,578.
Among the Houses, Eliot also leads, with 72 percent of its members contributing.
