The Eliot House hockey team edged Yale's Davenport College, 4 to 3, for the intercollege title yesterday afternoon in the Watson Rink. Bob Kennard led the Elephant scoring with two goals.
Devenport scored once in each period, while Eliot scored two in the first period and one each in the second and third. Both goalies averaged five saves per period.
Neither team led by more than one goal at any point in the game. Center Bill Schrader scored the first goal of the game unassisted for Davenport at 2:03. Kennard and Karl Purnell scored the two Eliot goals in the first period.
The Elis opened the scoring int he second period with a goal by Bob Ford assisted by Ferg Reid at 2:07.
