Bill Kaden of Adams and Kirby Smith of Thayer South won the House and freshman intramural epee competition respectively, in the final event of this year's three day fencing tournament.

In team competition, Adams took the House title with 20 points, and Thayer South won the Yard championship with a total of 15.

Kaden, runner-up in both the foil and sabre events, quickly defeated fellow Gold Coaster Phil Villers, 3 to 0, to gain individual point honors among the House entrants with 11. Kaden's stiffest opposition came in his semi-final match, where after repeated attacks and parries, he finally overcame Bill Hooker of Kirkland, 3 to 2. Runner-up Villers triumphed over his semi-finalist opponent, John Watson of Dunster, 3 to 1.

In the Yardling competition, Smith won his second championship in the three day tournament by downing Jamie Wheeler of Thayer North, 3 to 2. Smith, who won the foils event and was runner-up in the sabre, was the highest scorer in the entire tournament with 13 points.
