New Society Posts 'Random Numbers'

The Random Numbers Society has come unofficially upon the University scene, with the avowed purpose of "serving the Harvard public."

The RNS has posted a six-digit random number every day for the last month throughout the University buildings, Stephen G. Brush and Paul E. Condon, Leverett House seniors who founded the society, said.

"We are here to serve and not to provide any sort of gambling service, as some people have guessed," Condon explained yesterday. "Each number contains at least 20 separate pieces of information," he added, "but some people don't seem to appreciate the beauty of random numbers."

The RNS now has branches at Wellesley and Radcliffe, and will not die after the founders graduate, according to Condon.
