The surprise decision permitting Terry O'Malley to play against Michigan last night came after a special meeting of the NCAA Eligibility Committee yesterday afternoon.
The committee felt O'Malley's case resembled that of Colorado sophomore George deRappard, a Canadian hockey star who transferred to Colorado from a junior college in January.
Two weeks ago deRappard had been declared eligible for tournament competition by Victor O. Schmidt, chairman of the NCAA eligibility committee.
