Four Dunster Boxers Enter Finals As Tourney Ends in I.A.B. Tonight

Dunster House and Leverett House both sent two more boxers to the inter-House tournament finals as a result of last night's semi-final bouts in the I.A.B. This means the Funsters will be favored in the finals, since they will enter four men to the Bunnies' three in tomorrow's matches.

Tom Howes of Dunster started off slowly against Jerry Shocker of Dudley in the 155-lb. division, and then scored a knockdown near the end of the last round to take the decision. Winthrop's Norm Wyner staggered precision-boxing Karl Purnell three times in the 145-lb. event with powerful left jabs and windmilling rights to win a decision.

In the 175-lb. class, Jack Canning of Leverett hit Winthrop's Tom Cooney with solid uppercuts to score a TKO when Cooney's shoulder was dislocated in the second round. Bob Weiler of Dunster assured himself of a place in the finals by winning a decision over Kirkland's Bill Joseph in the 125-lb. class. In the finals he will meet Dudley's Jim Bresnahan, last year's winner.

Warren Bradbury took another win for Leverett when he defeated Stan Dubinsky of Dudley in a referee's decision. Bradbury will box Dunster's Howes for the 155-lb. title in the finals. Dave Hoffman of Lowell took a decision from Ruben Gittes of Adams in the 175-lb. division.

In the freshman matches, Lester Archambeau of Thayer Middle lost on a decision to Don Beaver of Grays in the 175-lb. division. Thayer's Dan Ullyot won by a TKO over Dan Prichard of Grays in the unlimited class.
