Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
In a game dominated equally by excitement and sloppy basketball, the Crimson lost to weak Boston College team 73 to 70 in overtime last night at the IAB.
The varsity threw the ball away 30 times in the course of the evening but managed primarily because of strong rebounding to stay even with the Eagles during the hectic second half.
With two minutes to play in the game, the Crimson trailed 61 to 59. Manning then scored on a foul shot and a minute later on a three point play to put the varsity ahead 63-61. A jump shot by B.C. sub Jim Brosnahan tied the score at 62-63 with 15 seconds to go.
Only seven seconds remained when sophomore Bob Barnett sank what seemed to be the winning basket for the Crimson. But Tom Cullinane, a substitute forward for B.C., put in a rebound a second before the buzzer and sent the game into overtime.
Two set shots by Roger Bulger and a foul by Dick Hurley enabled the varsity to stay even with the Eagles through the first three minutes of the extra period. Three successful free throw attempts, however, gave the Eagles the margin of victory.
Muncaster Stars
Boston College led 37 to 33 at the end of the first half, but the edge would have been considerably larger if it weren't for a strong performance by sophomore forward Neil Muncaster. Muncaster had to leave the game because of an injured ankle before the end of the first half, but in the seven minutes he played he accounted for 13 points, hitting on five out of six field goal attempts.
B.C. led during most of the first half and didn't relinquish the lead until six minutes had passed in the second period. From then to the finish it was close basketball, with the score being tied nine times.
Manning Gets 18
Leading scorer for the varsity was Manning, with 18 points. Bulger and Phil Haughey each scored 12, while center "Ike" Canty, who had his poorest schooling night of the season totaled eight. Bob Hastings, Bob Barnett, and Dick Hurley completed the scoring.
The defeat brought the varsity's record to fur wins and 11 defeats. The team's next game is this Saturday, here, against Princeton.
In the preliminary game, the B.C. freshmen downed the Yardlings 65 to 53. Dick Woolston led the Crimson scoring with 17 points.
