The varsity squash team easily defeated Amherst 7 to 2 Saturday for its fourth straight win, giving the team an overall 8-2 record.
At one, Crimson sophomore Ben Heckscher, not as consistent as usual, was extended to five games before beating Bob Herd. Captain Bill Wister, playing number two, won his third straight match, using forceful volleying and solid ground-strokes to take Don MacDougall without dropping a game.
Guy Paschal, rebounding after a loss to Williams' Scott Wood Friday, defeated Mat Dillien 15-10, 15-11, 13-15, and 15-11.
Aggressive and fast, Cal Place, who has lost only once this year, had little trouble beating Ted Weideman, 15-10, 15-1, 13-15, and 15-9, in the number five match. And "Bats" Wheeler dropped the first game before taking the next three from Tom MacDonald, 15-6, 15-8, and 15-7. Rather than employing straight power. Wheeler used many angle and spin shots that caught MacDonald going the wrong way.
Bob Milton, seldom flashy, but always steady, defeated Van Ooms 15-8, 10-15, 15-12, and 15-13 at seven, but Roger Cortesi lost in straight games to Irv Robbins in the number eight match. In the final match, Mike Levinson defeated Jim Hicks 15-8, 11-15, 15-10, and 15-6.
The Yardling team travelled to Amherst, only to find that there was no scheduled freshman match.
