Basketball Team Will Meet Strong Indian Quintet Today

The varsity basketball team will be hoping tonight that Dartmouth retains its reputation as the most erratic team in the Ivy League. For on paper, the unpredictable Indians are a top-heavy favorite to defeat the Crimson for the second time this season. Game time at the IAB is 8:30, preceded by a freshman contest with New Hampshire at 6:30.

Doggie Julian's quintet, currently fifth in the League with a 6-5 record, 15-6 overall, has been the only Ivy team to beat first-place Pennsylvania. In addition, the Indians have defeated Connecticut twice and Holy Cross once. But the Green has also been upset by last-place Yale and sixth-place Brown.

The bulk of the varsity scoring tonight will probably come from 6-4 Dick Manning and 6-4 Ike Canty. Manning, playing the best ball of his three years on the varsity, scored 22 against Tufts on Tuesday. Canty has been averaging double figures since he was promoted to the starting lineup last month. The other starters are Captain Roger Bulger, Dick Hurley, and Bob Barnett.

The Crimson at present is in next-to-last place, a full game ahead of last place Yale and a half-game behind sixth place Brown. The varsity's record is 2-8 in the league and 5-14 for the season.
