Although it captured two of three events, the varsity fencing team was overwhelmed in the third, to lose to M.I.T. last night, 14 to 13. The loss left the team with a 2-2 record.

The fencers took the epee and the foil by 6 to 3 scores, but failed completely in the sabre, as M.I.T. won, 8 to 1. Daniel Gillis, the manager, described the score as surprising, since the varsity was expected to win."

The loss followed brilliant individual performances by Walter Rawis and Paul Forand, who were undefeated in three matches, in the foil and epee, respectively. Douglas Fitchen and Steven Schneider each triumphel in two of their three matches.

The team's next match will be in the 1955 Tetragonal Fencing Tournament with Yale, Princeton, and Navy, in New York on Saturday.
