Soccer became the University's eighth major sport last night, when the Faculty Committee on Athletics officially approved the Undergraduate Athletic Council's decision of Nov. 22.
A major H will be awarded to members of this year's team, which tied for first place in the Ivy soccer league. The design of the letter will be decided upon at a later date.
Petitions to raise wrestling and cross country to major status also are pending before the Undergraduate Athletic Council and will probably be considered at its next meeting before Christmas.
