Varsity, Freshman Squash Teams Both Conquer Weak Wesleyan, 9-0

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The varsity and freshman squash teams swept through Wesleyan without losing a single game yesterday afternoon, winning both matches 9-0.

Coach Jack Barnaby said that the win "could not be called an important one because of the inexperience of the Wesleyan team." He was "very pleased," however, with the way in which his squad adjusted to the unfamiliar courts.

Clearly suffering from lack of experience, the Wesleyan players tended to leave themselves vulnerable to the Crimson's cross-court attack. The varsity made use of this weakness to run the opposition into errors.

The top five Crimson players won without losing more than 25 points in any individual match. Bon Heckscher, Pete Milton, Cal Place, Lee Folger, and Charlie MacVeagh used their large repetoire of shots to baffle their opponents. The bottom four matches were even more uneven as Wesleyan's lack of depth became apparent.

The freshman match was a repetition the the varsity contest, with experience and depth being the deciding factor.

The summaries, all scores 3-0:

Varsity: Heckscher, B. (H) d. Loos; Milton (H) d. Porter; Place (H) d. Garbutt; Folger (H) d. Totanz; MacVeagh (H) d. Meyers; Heckscher, M. (H) d. Nell; Cortesi, R. (H) d. Ryan; Thomas (II) d. Alexander; Sears (H) d. Holmes.
