Norman Wyner of Winthrop was the outstanding performer at last night's boxing trials with two first round knockouts.

Wyner, flighting in the 145-pound class, kayoed both Eric Wentworth of Lowell and Jay Hearst of Kirkland.

Also in the 145: John Cahouet of Dudley won twice, defeating Richard Van Duyne of Kirkland and John Atkins of Winthrop. Alvin German of Dudley defeated Cyrus Burton of Adams, and Frank Dewar won a decision from Robert Schoenberg. Adolph Samhorski, Director of Intramural Athletics, called the latter match, "one of the best."

Ray Daley of Winthrop topped Howard Coughlin of Dudley in the only contest at 155.

Freshmen Also Box

In the 165, James Jones of Dunster defeated Ed Carey of Winthrop, and Hugh Chandler of Eliot topped Francis Ingolds by of Dunster in a savage match.

One match in the unlimited weight division saw Nick Culolias defeat Chester Salkind of Leverett.

Freshmen competed in two contests, both in the 145. Karl Purnell of Wiggles worth East topped Charle Thomas of Stoughton, and Francis Holmes won a decision from Charles Rex of Matthews South.

Sixteen semi-final bouts will be held tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the I.A.B.
