Lowell Marks Anniversary With First Football Victory

While most of Lowell House was gravying its ties at its 25th Anniversary dinner last night, 16 coachless stalwarts were muddying their pants to defeat the Dudley football team 6 to 0, in their first win of the season.

In the second game last night, Leverett and Eliot battled to a scoreless tie. These games marked the first night football in the history of House intramurals.

Coached by game captain Ira J. Rimson, quarterback Peter Hearst, and manager James A. Austrian, the Bellboys remained scoreless until the last two minutes of the game, when halfback Bob Gebelein crossed into the end zone to complete a 40-yard drive.

A Dudley pass, intercepted by Ted Moskowitz, gave Lowell the first break of the game, and it took only seven downs to score.

The only near-tally in the Eliot-Leverett tie came when the Elephants pushed to Leverett's four-yard line. Lew Goetz caught a pass in the end zone, but two offside penalties invalidated the pass and a 15-yard penalty for "unsportsman-like conduct" forced Eliot back to the Bunny 20.
