Jordan Emphasizes Rushing, Pass Defense in Practice for Columbia

Coach Lloyd Jordan has sent his white-jerseyed varsity football team through intensive offensive and defensive drills this week in preparation for Saturday's game with Columbia.

Line rushing and pass defense were emphasized in Tuesday's practice session, as the Crimson prepares to stop Claude Benham, the Lions' T-formation quarterback, rated at least as good a passer and play-caller as Cornell's Bill DeGraaf.

Yesterday, the same, units that played against the Big Red ran offensive plays against J.V.'s, and Jordan continued to stress higher and harder tackling than was used in Saturday's game.

Jim Joslin and Walt Stahura, who were used sparingly last week because of minor injuries, may see more action against Columbia, either at tailback and or wingback.

The varsity will leave South Station tomorrow at 10 a.m. and will get in an afternoon workout at Baker Field.
