Government 1a will precede 1b next year so that the 1a lecturer, William Y. Elliott, Leroy B. Williams Professor of History and Political Science, may take leave during the spring.
The change will be temporary, according to Carl J. Friedrich, professor of Government.
"Although some on the staff disagree, most of us still think a student is better prepared, for the study of political theory in 1a studying modern government in 1b," said Friedrich.
