Hitti to Lecture in 2 Islamic Courses

Philip K. Hitti, Professor emeritus of Islamic Studies at Princeton University, will teach History 129, "History of Mediaeval Islamic Civilization" and History 229, "seminar in Islamic Histry" this year.

The courses were originally to have been given by Dr. Duri of the Higher Teacher's College, Baghdad. Professor Hitti was one of ten distinguished professors mentioned by Time magazine who retired last June. He created the department of Islamic Studies at Princeton University, and is the author of numerous books, among them "A History of the Arabs," which has passed through many editions, "A History of Syria and Lebanon," and "The Arabs."

The Mediaeval Acadamy of America provided the funds for the courses in Islamic history at Harvard this year.
